Date of issue: October 7, 2025
Steps to reproduce the issue:
Launch Minecraft Bedrock on PS5
Attempt to open an existing world (~495 MB in size)
Game stays stuck on “Generating World.”
After 20–30 seconds, the game crashes to the PS5 home screen
Expected result:
The world should load normally.
Actual result:
The game freezes and crashes every time the 495 MB world (or its duplicate) is opened.
Additional information:
The original world (495 MB) and its duplicate (also 495 MB) both crash on load.
A backup world (482 MB) loads normally with no corruption.
However, when duplicating that working 482 MB world, the new duplicate is only 30 MB and has missing terrain and regenerated chunks.
Reinstalling Minecraft, rebuilding the PS5 database, and disabling add-ons did not fix the issue.
PS5 has plenty of free storage space.
Problem started immediately after the October 7 update.
