PlayStation: Game crashes when loading world after version 1.21.111 release

I'm having the same issue as well with my nearly 4 year old survival world. If the issue isn't resolved by the time I get off of work today (around 4pm CST) I will go and buy a USB to upload my world.

I am having this same issue. Tried to do the USB thing, but only have the option to upload to Cloud or move to console storage.

I was unable to format the USB drive to FAT32(wasted $20), and as the previous person mentioned, there is only an option for cloud storage or deleting. I can't even transfer it to the spare 2TB hard drive that I forgot I had which is empty.

I actually looked it up and you need a usb flash drive thats 3.0 and has to have a minimum of 250gb of space to use it on the ps5 oh and you have to use the USB A outlets on the back of the console not the front

Having this same problem with old worlds on my PS5.

I bought a realms subscription and tried to upload it to that, but it just crashes when clicking on “Play on Realms" as well. Gonna be devastating if all those memories and the time is gone just because the copper update.

Happened to me as well. Did you use the golums experiment before the golums update? I feel like that's what screwed everything . I tried everything. I have PS4 version back saved but way outdated. My world is also 10 years old built a huge city and working extensively day before it crashed. I receive an error says “panda” server won't load. I know it's not a LAN issue. I tried realms. Even with my PS5 copy. My original is 1.5gb way more built with in 2 months other is 856mb and it failed to upload. I was curious let me on and half of my world just in my city was void. 😞 you can't save PS5 file and transfer to computer or bridge to PS4 to transfer to computer. I reached out to Mojang, they won't budge with it because the experimental stuff is still being worked on. They said a possible future update with those futures may solve and fix the problem. Just be patient and hope the MC gods fix it or see this. I used AI to summarize and help resolve the issue which got me here and happened to see you have the same issue. Please lmk if you received the same error message as me or if it closes out and asked to report it. Very helpful info

Make sure to back it up on cloud before uploading to realms and if it's over 750mb good luck. I had to restore my copy and original a few times till I gave up

I didn’t use any experiments in mine, my world definitely wasn’t as old as yours but was still 950MB so I don’t know how this has happened.

i know I had played right before the update came out and left my ps5 in rest mode.

Whenever I look for a backup copy it never works because of auto save.

This is my first world ever not on realms for my ps5 which is the saddest part.

Never used experimental features or mods on my world. My world is only 600 mb and all the game does is freeze and crash.

Deleting and reinstalling the game does not work, everything is up to date and Sony is far to restrictive to share videos and files efficiently to showcase the issue

I’ve been having this problem from before the copper update, I also tried everything but nothing works, I’ve had this world for over 5 years and I don’t want to lose it, hopefully they can find a fix Bcs it’s honestly unacceptable.

I found a possible fix if you upload your world as a realm and have it fail on the part where it shows your world size and it uploading you'll be able to access the world again I just did it with my world and I can use it again just to be clear it has to show the an error occurred message while uploading it doesn't have to be instant it just has to fail and show that message your world will be slightly smaller than before but not by much like 30mbs at most is what I lost but I didn't lose anything and it works normally so far

I can't get an image but basically when It gets to the uploading screen after exporting the save it has to fail on that screen I'll try to get an image if I can

I tried to do this and it reset my world…. I retrieved it from cloud storage but still can't open the world

This screen you want it to error here and it'll make your world playable again it'll come up with a message saying an error occurred

No if you haven't used the free trial yet you can use that

I just tried that and it completely reset my world. Now no matter how many times I copy it and it does load, its reset everything. The last memories with my brother are on my world so luckily I have copies of the original. If I lose the world I'm giving up on minecraft all together. This is is insanely ridiculous

You didn't close the game while doing it did you because that will reset the world

Even when attempting to upload the world as a realm, it only attempts to upload/download about 6.4mb out of the 640mb that the actually is.

It takes a bit of time to upload but it should come up with that error it's random when it does it just dont use your original world like I said it's a possible fix I wasn't sure if it would work or not so I'm not sure why yours reset

If it doesn't work for any of you then I guess I got lucky but definitely don't use the original world only use the copies so you don't lose your worlds entirely

Yeah I'm still not going to touch those worlds till there's an update released anyway I'm not even sure if they're safe to play anyway even if I've managed to get them to work again

I can’t upload to a usb as the world is on ps5 and it has to be the ps4 version to upload onto a usb stick apparently. the way to fix to transfer the world over is via realms which isn’t an option as the world and it’s duplicates reset to the original seed when I open it on realms.

The bug is also present in Windows 11, I can’t load the world because it just crashes.

I just got an update to the ps5 version of mine 01.030.000 anyone who's worlds have been crashing can you check if that update fixed it

I decided to delete then re-download the game. It made its own copy of the world about 200mb smaller than the original and when I loaded in, it was as if my account had never been on the world before. All my stuff was gone, I was at world spawn, my end chest, exp, spawn set bed, everything was gone. Some builds were completely gone, others only partially missing. Mobs were in all random spots. The craziest part to me was the fact there was entire chunks missing all the way down to the void. I went into creative mode to look around more since I was on a copy and realized its done for anyways. I took a video but its not wanting to upload to this site at all currently, I'll keep trying though. I'm just glad that my original world is still safely backed up. I also decided to make another copy of it and attempting to load it just crashes it like it has been since the copper drop.

This is the worst update released buggy,destroys worlds,apparently the copper golden doesn't actually work properly,the game runs worse now this is a 300mb update and it's done nothing but cause problems wtf mojang unacceptable

This is the best way I could think to do it at the moment. I uploaded the video to YouTube and the video quality went to crap in YouTubes rendering but you can still see what I'm trying to say. It's the only video on my channel so you cant miss it.

This been happening to me from before the copper update, so I don’t think that updates the problem ,however it probably just made it more common. I noticed that this is happening to people only with really big worlds, over 500mb, not sure what the correlation is though

I’m having the same issue, as mentioned in a duplicate bug report. Based on the comments here, I’m wondering if my world will be fully recovered if there is ever an update that fixes the issue. Makes me glad that there are other games that I like to play; I can’t see myself starting something new at this point, which likely means I’m done with Minecraft.

Got mine working for 2 days now it's doing it again and I don't know exactly how I got it working. Found out I have limited storage space my world is 1.5gb

No luck here, been over a week and not a peep from support other than the advice of uploading to USB.

I submitted a second bug report and they sent me back to this one and said that this isn't a support line. So not sure we will hear anything back from them at all…

Still not working here either. 5000~ day 850mb+ world on PS5. Totally vanilla, no addons or anything.

I feel like I’m checking this bug page several times a day just to see if anyone’s had any luck or response, but none of us have and the more people adding comments with the same story and yet no update comment from Mojang is actually crazy to me.

Still no luck for me either. Really frustrating just waiting around for something to be said or done about it, and hearing nothing.

Same issue, PC player here, PC well above specs, never had issues this bad before.

Well this is absurd, Mojang support won't reply i would say to all people right there to just play an alternative game that is not Minecraft.

A few people on Reddit suggested turning off my texture pack and reloading the world but unfortunately I’ve just done that and completely lost my only save of the world. I didn’t think it would nuke my world entirely doing that, so didn’t make a copy. Putting this here so people don’t make the same mistake. Absolutely heartbroken.

Like i said.. but now i know that texture packs can do a tragedy.
