Minecraft Force-Updates, Making Game Unplayable

I have updates paused in Microsoft Store. See screenshot. I opened Preview to play for a short while but it force-updated ignoring the store settings. I paused again but can’t play until it updates now. I didn’t want to update it yet as I want to back up my worlds first and this affects another account on my PC and a different user so this is not a straightforward process. Please DO NOT force updates when we’ve got them paused in the main settings. It is VERY annoying. This is the second time that MC has changed or ignored globally set settings in Windows. The other is apparently fixed, but still affects both Bedrock and Preview on my machine.

The Xbox app is a separate app with its own update settings. Did you also disable automatic updates in Settings > Install Options?

Thank you very much for looking into this. I don’t usually use the Xbox App to download so I’m not so familiar with the settings. I don’t think it should be downloading automatically, see screenshot, but there are so many options in different places that I can’t be sure. I had a whole list of apps that needed updating (Microsoft Store), including the most recent update to Bedrock, which I also hadn’t downloaded, but Preview was the only one that did it all by itself when started. I hope this helps.

Now affects the main game on both ms accounts and both mc accounts (different logins). This is very frustrating as worlds are often deleted between updates but now we don’t even get to choose when we update even when updates are turned off! I really don’t want to play minecraft anymore. Other family members still want to play though. Even ms store is broken by this update.

Updated again today when updates are paused in MS Store, Xbox App and Windows Updates.

This does not allow us the opportunity to back up worlds from the world eating bugs that often occur in the game.

I have paused all updates and I expect them to be paused. I’ve now got to go and check on the other account on this PC and fix this bug manually again.

Not happy. Please fix.

Unfortunately, this is working as intended.
