Minecraft for Windows does not boot

Minecraft for Windows is unable to boot after the switch to the GDK builds, a reinstall of the game does not affect this. Attempting to launch the game leads to the “Mojang” logo window, but the game shows a dialog which cannot be skipped, nor ever disappears, an image of this window is attached. Attempting to launch the game executible directly has no affect, the game does not launch and task manager shows no background process, so it’s exiting immediately.
