The second attached image is taken “close up” (<90 blocks away) where the waterlogged upper slabs render correctly as the smooth stone.
The first attached image is taken “far away” (~110 blocks away) where the waterlogged upper slabs now have incorrect texturing, reminiscent of Z-fighting, where the water peaks through.
Additional information that might be relevant:
- standing on slabs reports y value = 63
