Escape key and Menu Cancel button stop functioning after closing the on-screen keyboard with a mouse or physical keyboard

Summary:
In the 26.0.24 Preview, opening the on-screen keyboard using a controller and then closing it using a mouse or physical keyboard causes both the Escape key and the Menu Cancel button to stop functioning in the currently opened GUI. This issue does not occur when the keyboard is closed using the controller, nor does it occur in the current 1.21.124 Stable release.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch Minecraft Preview.

  2. Connect a controller to your system.

  3. Open a world.

  4. Open any GUI with a text box (such as chat or inventory).

  5. Select the text box using the controller. The on-screen keyboard should appear.

  6. Close the on-screen keyboard by moving the mouse or pressing any key on a physical keyboard.

  7. Attempt to close the GUI using the Escape key or the Menu Cancel button.

Observed Results:
The Escape key and Menu Cancel button no longer function after closing the on-screen keyboard. Functionality is only restored after clicking the text box with the mouse.

Expected Results:
The Escape key and Menu Cancel button should continue to function normally after the on-screen keyboard is closed using a mouse or physical keyboard, consistent with previous behavior.
