Chickens fly away when hit by fishing rod.

While playing earlier, I hit a chicken with the bobber of the fishing rod, (as if trying to fish it) and to my surprise, it started to keep constantly getting hit by the bobber, and flying high into the sky because of the damage. The chicken is the only mob that seems to be affected by this.
