I am experiencing severe stutter lag and short freezes while playing Minecraft on iOS.
Device: iPhone 12
iOS version: iOS 26.1
Minecraft version: 1.21.131 Hotfix
Minecraft was working smoothly on this device for about one year with no major performance issues. However, this problem started suddenly and now happens consistently.
The game frequently freezes for 1–3 seconds and has major frame drops when:
Moving around the world
Loading chunks
Turning the camera
Interacting with blocks or mobs
This occurs even with lower video settings enabled. Restarting the app and restarting the device did not resolve the issue.
The sudden change in performance makes the game very difficult to play.
We're tracking this issue at MCPE-228430, so I will resolve and link this report as a duplicate.
