Beacon’s stored status effects get lost on converting from PS4 Legacy Console to Bedrock

The Bug:

A Beacon’s stored status effects get lost on converting a Legacy Console PS4 save to Bedrock.

Steps to Reproduce:

Prerequisites:

You need to be able to access the Editions button, and own the PS4 Legacy Console Disc for this.

The Steps:

They are to be followed in order.

Launching PS4 Legacy Edition:

  1. Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

  2. Go to Editions, and launch Editions. (From there, this launches the version of Legacy Console PS4 edition.)

Once in PS4 Legacy Edition:

  1. Once in Editions, create a new world in creative mode, any difficulty, any of the world sizes and any biome scale. If you want to , you may use the Find Balanced seed Option, and Host Privileges needs to be enabled.

  2. Now create the new world.

Once in the newly created world:

  1. Look for diamond blocks, a beacon and a diamond in the creative inventory.

  2. Build a beacon base from the diamond blocks (Base Level 1.)

  3. Place a beacon on the base level 1 Pyramid.

  4. Open the beacon menu of the only beacon of the base level 1 pyramid. Put a diamond into the beacon sacrifice slot, and Select speed as the primary effect.

  5. Confirm your selection.

  6. Build another beacon base from the diamond blocks next to the base level 1 beacon pyramid, Base Level 4. This is going to be a large beacon base, so you may need to clear out blocks. But do not destroy any blocks from the base level 1 pyramid.

  7. Place a beacon on top of the level 4 pyramid. If it gives out a white beam this step is done correctly.

  8. Open the beacon menu of the only beacon of the base level 4 pyramid. Put a diamond into the beacon sacrifice slot, and Select regeneration as the only secondary effect, without selecting a primary effect. (Now since this is the legacy PS4 edition, you are allowed to select regeneration as the secondary effect without needing to select a primary effect, unlike in Bedrock.)

  9. Confirm your selection.

  10. Go to the pause menu, save and exit the game.

  11. At the Title Menu, launch new Minecraft (which is of course leading you to Bedrock Edition).

Once back in Bedrock Edition:

  1. In Bedrock Edition, go to the settings menu.

  2. Go to Storage —> Old Worlds. Press Sync Old Worlds.

  3. Go to your newly created Editions world where you using to prepare for the bug reproduction.

  4. At the converting your world screen, press Convert.

After Converting the World:

  1. Once the world converts, go back to the main menu.

  2. Go to the worlds list.

  3. Click on the world you just converted.

  4. Accept the world update of the converted world. If you want to, you can make a backup copy of the world.

  5. You may notice having your ambient effects for a bit, then they disappear and won’t return.

  6. At this point, your beacons have forgotten their old effects.

Expected Results:

Beacons retain their stored primary and/or secondary status effects to give after conversion.

Observed Results:

Beacons lost their status effects to give after conversion. Therefore the beacons need to be fed again if you want to have their effects back after conversion.
