Profile pic isn't changing to Minecraft classic skin

In a beta version of Minecraft, I have encountered this problem that I can’t seem to fix. I am pretty sure that my profile picture is supposed to switch to the classic skin I uploaded, but it isn’t. It’s always staying on the monochrome image of Steve. This might be normal, but I don’t know.
