Summary:
In older versions of the game, pressing E while hovering the mouse cursor over a text box would input the letter “E” into the text field. In current versions, pressing E instead closes the GUI, requiring the player to manually click the text box before typing.
This appears to be caused by an incomplete fix for MCPE-229178 .
The issue affects the following interfaces:
Creative Inventory (fixed in 26.40.22/23 Preview)
Recipe Book (fixed in 26.40.22/23 Preview)
Anvil
Cartography Table
Jigsaw Block
Structure Block
Steps to Reproduce:
Open a world.
Open one of the affected GUIs listed above.
Move the mouse cursor over the text box without clicking it.
Press the E key.
Observed Results:
The GUI closes instead of inputting the letter “E” into the text box.
Expected Results:
The letter “E” should be entered into the text box, matching the behavior in older versions such as 1.21.120.21.
