Hitting Sound Effect Playing Without Hitting

When I was playing in my hardcore world and accidentally hit a mob while switching to a slot, it played the hit sound (not the mob cry) and swapped back to the item I hit it. I decided to play around with it and it only occurs to me when I face a mobs hit box while doing it or it just doesn’t swap back. It also doesn’t take any durability off the item when I do it so it’s not major but it is still kind of annoying.
