Summary
In recent Minecraft Bedrock versions, Ray Tracing mode appears to have persistent visual regressions, including ghosting/trailing artifacts and broken or incorrect PBR material rendering. These issues do not appear to be specific to one GPU, NVIDIA Smooth Motion, RTX 50 series GPUs, or upscaling.
The issue significantly reduces the visual quality of Ray Tracing mode, even when performance is otherwise good.
Actual result
Ray Tracing mode shows visible ghosting/trailing artifacts during camera movement. In addition, PBR materials can appear incorrect or broken, including issues with metallic surfaces, emissive materials, reflections, or texture behavior.
The artifacts make Ray Tracing mode look unstable and reduce the benefit of RTX lighting, even when the GPU is capable of running the game at high FPS.
Expected result
Ray Tracing mode should render PBR materials correctly and should not show excessive ghosting or trailing artifacts during normal camera movement. RTX lighting, reflections, emissive blocks, and PBR materials should remain visually stable.
Important observations
The issue does not appear to be caused by NVIDIA Smooth Motion, because the same ghosting behavior is still present when Smooth Motion is disabled.
The issue does not appear to be caused only by upscaling, because the ghosting is still visible when upscaling is disabled.
The issue does not appear to be specific to RTX 50 series GPUs, because similar symptoms are visible on an AMD Radeon 860M integrated GPU as well.
This suggests that the problem may be related to Minecraft Bedrock’s Ray Tracing rendering path itself, such as RenderDragon, temporal rendering/denoising, PBR/MERS material handling, or graphics mode pipeline changes.
Additional context
Older Minecraft RTX videos and earlier RTX behavior appear visually cleaner, while many recent RTX examples show more ghosting and PBR/material problems. The timing seems to match recent graphics pipeline changes related to Vibrant Visuals and the updated graphics mode system.
I am not claiming that Vibrant Visuals itself is directly the cause, but the symptoms suggest that recent graphics pipeline changes may have affected Ray Tracing mode as a regression.
Steps to reproduce
Launch Minecraft Bedrock Edition for Windows.
Load a Ray Tracing-compatible world.
Enable Ray Tracing mode.
Use RTX/PBR-compatible materials, especially reflective, metallic, glass, water, or emissive blocks.
Move the camera normally around the scene.
Observe ghosting/trailing artifacts and unstable or incorrect PBR material rendering.
Repeat with upscaling disabled.
Repeat with NVIDIA Smooth Motion disabled.
If possible, compare behavior across different GPUs.
Result
The ghosting and PBR/material issues remain visible even when Smooth Motion and upscaling are disabled, suggesting that the issue is not caused only by driver-level frame generation or upscaling.
Why this matters
Ray Tracing mode is still one of the highest-quality visual modes available in Minecraft Bedrock, but these regressions make the feature look much worse than it should. The issue affects the core strengths of RTX mode: reflections, emissive lighting, PBR materials, water, glass, and stable lighting.
Please investigate Ray Tracing mode as a possible regression in the current Bedrock rendering pipeline, especially around temporal denoising, PBR/MERS handling, and recent graphics mode changes.
