When launching the backwards-compatible PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft on a PlayStation 5 console, the game enters an immediate crash loop on the main menu. The freeze occurs the exact moment the UI attempts to automatically authenticate the linked Microsoft Account and sync marketplace assets. A "Global Resources Reset" notification momentarily appears before the app hard-crashes back to the PlayStation 5 dashboard.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch the PS4 edition of Minecraft Bedrock on a PS5 console updated to the latest client patch.
Allow the game to reach the main menu where it attempts to automatically log into the active Microsoft Account profile.
Observe the user profile connection handshake initializing.
Observed Result:
The game freezes instantly upon syncing account data, briefly displays a corrupted data or global resources notification, and forcefully crashes to the console home screen. Wiping local "System Data" via console storage only fixes the crash for a single launch before the auto-login triggers it again.
Expected Result:
The main menu should complete its cloud authentication handshake smoothly without overloading the legacy game engine or forcing an application crash.

Here is a PS4 version of that video I’ve taken
And here’s a PS5 version of that video I’ve taken too
Both of these versions of Minecraft for PS5 and PS4 crash multiple times.
I have a similar problem. As soon as the game loads to the main menu, the entire screen goes black and the game audio disappears.
Update: If I stay logged out of my Microsoft Account on the PS5 but stay logged into my PSN account, the main menu loads safely and does not crash. The crash only triggers the exact moment the Microsoft Account authentication begins.
Update: Monitoring global network telemetry shows that the PlayStation application launch crash rates are holding steady at roughly 21-23%. This persistent plateau confirms that a client-side code modification is required to repair the PSN-to-Microsoft account handshake. Ready to test the resolution whenever the v26.31 hotfix deployment pipeline is initiated."
