Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 caps FPS to exactly half monitor refresh rate on Windows (144Hz = 72 FPS)

After updating to Minecraft Bedrock version 26.30, the game's framerate appears to be capped at exactly half of the monitor refresh rate.

Before updating, Minecraft was able to run well above 144 FPS on the same hardware and settings. After updating to version 26.30, the game is locked to approximately 72 FPS even when the Framerate Limit option is set to Unlimited.

The issue occurs despite the system having plenty of available resources and without any apparent CPU, GPU, or memory bottleneck.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 on Windows.

  2. Use a 144 Hz monitor.

  3. Set Framerate Limit to Unlimited.

  4. Ensure Improved Input Responsiveness is disabled.

  5. Load or create a world.

  6. Set Render Distance to 10 chunks.

  7. Enable an FPS counter.

Expected Result

The game should render above 72 FPS and fully utilize available hardware resources when Framerate Limit is set to Unlimited.

Actual Result

The game remains locked at approximately 72 FPS, which is exactly half of the monitor refresh rate (144 Hz).

Performance Information

The issue does not appear to be caused by hardware limitations.

Observed during testing:

  • FPS locked at 72

  • GPU usage around 39%

  • CPU usage around 19%

  • More than 25 GB of RAM available

  • Render Distance set to only 10 chunks

  • Improved Input Responsiveness disabled

The game does not fully utilize CPU or GPU resources and still remains capped at 72 FPS.

Additional Notes

  • The issue started only after updating to version 26.30.

  • Previous versions did not exhibit this behavior on the same hardware.

  • Framerate remains capped regardless of graphics settings.

  • The behavior suggests an internal framerate limiter or synchronization issue introduced in version 26.30.

  • The hardware is capable of rendering significantly higher framerates.

  • A screenshot showing the FPS lock and low hardware utilization is attached.

Possible Related Behavior

The FPS value matches exactly half of the monitor refresh rate:

  • 144 Hz β†’ 72 FPS

This may indicate a synchronization or framerate limiting issue introduced in version 26.30.

My game caps at 71 but i have 240 Hz. My Gpu (Radeon RX 9060XT 16GB), CPU (Ryzen 5 7500F), RAM 32GB are mostly unused. also I have sudden performance drops to 5 - 20 FPS
