The bug:
You can't put in any colour of the wool slabs and wool stairs as furnace fuel, unlike Java Edition. This is a valid parity issue, as Java made wool slabs and wool stairs smeltable in 26.3 snapshot 2. This could be based off the fact that the wool is considered unusable as fuel in Bedrock… (MCPE-59985)
Despite this problem, you are intentionally allowed to smelt cushions as a valid fuel item in Bedrock as you are allowed to in Java, even though they are based off wool slabs which couldn’t be used as fuel in Bedrock Edition furnaces...
Steps to Repro:
Enable Drop 3 of 2026 experiment
Place a furnace.
Try putting in wool slabs or wool stairs in the fuel slot.
Observed Result:
You can’t.
Expected Result:
You should be able to, with wool slabs smelting 0.25 items and wool stairs smelting 0.5 items.
