Short Description
Minecraft crashes every time it starts while the device is connected to the internet. The game launches successfully offline, but crashes immediately after Microsoft sign-in or when launched while online. The issue is 100% reproducible. Launching the game offline works correctly, but launching while online always causes a crash.
Steps to Reproduce
Scenario 1 — Launch while online
Connect the iPad to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot.
Launch Minecraft Bedrock.
Wait for the loading bar to complete.
Result
Loading reaches 100%.
A message similar to “Global Resources have been reset” briefly appears.
Minecraft immediately closes.
Scenario 2 — Launch while offline
Enable Airplane Mode (or disconnect from all internet connections).
Launch Minecraft.
Wait until the main menu appears.
Result
Minecraft launches successfully.
The following menus are accessible:
Play
Realms
Settings
Dressing Room
No crashes occur while remaining offline.
Scenario 3 — Enable internet after startup
Launch Minecraft while offline.
Reach the main menu successfully.
Enable Wi-Fi while Minecraft remains open.
Wait at least one minute.
Result
Minecraft continues running normally.
No crash occurs after internet is restored.
Scenario 4 — Microsoft Sign-in
Launch Minecraft offline.
Reach the main menu.
Enable internet.
Press Sign In.
Enter Microsoft account email.
Microsoft correctly recognizes the account and Xbox Gamertag.
Press “Let’s Go” to complete sign-in.
Result
Minecraft crashes immediately the instant “Let’s Go” is pressed.
No error message is displayed.
Expected Behaviour
Minecraft should launch normally while online and remain stable after signing into a Microsoft account.
Actual Behaviour
Minecraft consistently crashes:
during startup whenever internet is already available;
immediately after Microsoft authentication.
After the crash, every subsequent online launch also crashes.
Troubleshooting Already Performed
The following troubleshooting steps were completed without resolving the issue:
Restarted the iPad.
Confirmed over 75 GB of available storage.
Updated Minecraft to the latest available version (1.26.33).
Updated iPadOS to version 26.6.
Completely removed Minecraft using Delete App (not Offload App).
Reinstalled Minecraft from the App Store.
Confirmed the issue persists after a completely clean installation.
Deleted locally generated crash-related files before reinstalling.
Verified Microsoft account credentials.
Successfully signed into the Xbox app using the same Microsoft account.
Confirmed Game Center is enabled and functioning.
Tested using home Wi-Fi.
Tested using an iPhone mobile hotspot (mobile data only).
Same crash occurs on both network connections.
Additional Observations
After reinstalling Minecraft, several crash-related files are recreated automatically after every crash, including files similar to:
resource_init_lock
menu_load_lock
crashedsession
crash dump (.dmp)
Deleting these files does not resolve the issue because Minecraft recreates them after every failed startup. These files appear to be generated as a consequence of the crash rather than causing it. The issue occurs with both home Wi-Fi and a mobile hotspot, ruling out a problem with a specific network connection.
Regression Information
Minecraft was functioning correctly approximately one week before the issue appeared.
During that period:
Same device.
Same Microsoft account.
Same Minecraft version (1.26.33).
The issue appeared suddenly without any intentional changes made inside Minecraft.

Notes
The issue does not appear to be related to:
corrupted local game files;
Microsoft account credentials;
Game Center authentication;
a specific internet connection;
device storage;
incomplete installation.
Based on the performed testing, the crash appears to occur specifically during the initialization of Minecraft online services or immediately after Microsoft account authentication.
The issue is fully reproducible on this device.
