TLDR: In local resource packs menu, “Remove” button does not function correctly.
I decided to try some resource packs in my 2000 day survival world (pure vanilla, no behaviour packs etc) Now it won’t let me play unless one or more local resource packs are activated for my world.
Steps to cause it:
Download and activate Dark Fantasy resource pack from Marketplace, activate as a LOCAL resource pack in world settings.
Join the world, then enable vibrant visuals. Then disable vibrant visuals.
Quit to title screen and enable ‘Minecraft Classic Textures’ as a LOCAL resource pack. Rejoin world. works as intended.
Quit to title and disable the LOCAL texture pack. Rejoin world. Texture pack is still visible (problem).
Quit to title again, deactivate it in world settings (again!). Return to single player world list then go edit world settings again. Classic texture pack has reactivated itself automatically? Despite being removed multiple times.
Go to “Storage”, Manage Resource packs, uninstall all resource packs except the default.
Remove any remaining resource pack from the world’s local resource packs.
Attempt to join world - Error message: Missing assets, please install missing resource packs.
Important note: After this point, I do not need the classic texture pack activated, I just need to have ANY non-default resource pack activated before I can join the world. It’s like my PS5 is just checking that quantity of local resource packs activated = default + 1 before joining.
I do routinely play split-screen on this single player world with my partner, but it doesn’t seem to change anything here.
No global resource packs are activated. No behaviour packs are activated.
I’m currently attempting this workaround: Sign up for realms membership, upload my world to a realm, remove all resource packs from realm settings, then redownload my world to single player format.
Update: This issue is happening with every world when I try a resource pack. It will no longer play unless there is some resource packs activated. I think it might be the ‘remove resource pack’ button which is broken. It is not actually removing the resource pack, despite appearing to do so.
