Minecraft for Windows crashes immediately after launch; Preview works

Minecraft for Windows has been completely unusable for approximately two weeks.

When I click Play, the game begins to launch and shows the red loading screen. It then briefly flashes a white screen, followed by a black screen, and closes completely without reaching the main menu.

I have already performed extensive troubleshooting, including repairing/resetting the app, reinstalling Minecraft components, and multiple Windows/Minecraft troubleshooting steps. The problem still occurs.

Importantly, Minecraft Preview opens and runs successfully on the same PC. The standard purchased version of Minecraft for Windows does not.

Expected result: Minecraft for Windows should open normally and reach the main menu.

Actual result: The game shows the red loading screen, flashes white/black, then closes without an error message.

This is a paid copy of Minecraft and it has been unusable for approximately two weeks. Please investigate this as a possible Bedrock/Minecraft for Windows startup issue.

Hello,
I tried the same but I was unable to reproduce this issue. Also for your knowldege this is not a Launcher related bug since launcher havent crashed, also bedrock launches as usual for me.

Hi, I’m sorry this is happening to you, it sounds really frustrating! But triage is most likely going to have issues reproducing this bug. Could you perhaps provide a bit of supporting information?

  • For example, did Minecraft work two weeks ago and what could’ve changed since then?

  • What Windows build are you using? (You can see that by clicking Start → Settings → System and then see the “About” section at the bottom)

  • What GPU and GPU driver version do you have installed?

  • And did you get any crash report logs?

I hope Mojang can help and that you’ll be able to play soon.
