Split-screen Realm hard crash to homescreen

I was trying out the better together update with a friend in split-screen and started exploring our realm. Friend went on a tower and proceeded to jump down to use Elytra and glide around, as soon as elytra was activated, the game completely crashed to xbox home screen. Upon returning, friend has died and lost all his inventory. Extremely frustrating and will probably stick to Xbox One Edition for a long time.
