Usually, you create a furnace with cobblestone. However, since I updated to the "better together update", MC is requiring me to use stone to craft a furnace. Well you can't make stone without smelting cobblestone. So I can't make any of the tools either, as stone tools are requiring actual stones. Am I missing something or is there something wrong with the updated version of the game?

I open a new world on CREATIVE and I can made the furnace with cobblestone.... Today I play the game again and open a new world on SURVIVE peacefull, and I can made the furnace with cobbleston too, I try open a new world on SURVIVE normal difficulty, and it works too... I let the snapshots, and the version have not changed (build 485422 - 13 sep 2017), I dont know, what change, but now it works fine.
