If realm the owner changes a certain player's permissions to something different than the default permission level of the world, when that person re-joins the realm, their permission level is reset to the default one. This is particularly difficult for realm owners who want to have operators to keep watch over their realm while their away, since they have to re-set their perms after every time they leave / realm resets / game crashes, etc.

Lets see here, our first comment on February 22nd 2018. This probably means that this was an issue a little before then, so sometime in January or February. It is now November and the year is coming to a close. For some reason this is still an issue. All I can say is I'm pretty disappointed.
Nick McQueen BDS doesn't seem to be a huge priority as of right now. There is a way to fix this. Check the bedrock_server_how_to.html for a temp fix.
I already did a temporary get around, but it isn't really a solution to the problem. Your gamemode still changes even with the temp fix when you leave game.
It seems that they are happy to settle with having server hosts use the workaround they talk about to change permissions since the server properties doesn't work. They say to use a data viewer but don't direct one like me to a data viewer. Every time there is an update, I have to wait for someone to log onto the server then give them the correct permission and some of my players are in England so, that is a tough ask. Do you know of a data viewer they are talking about? BTW, I am not a programmer. I'm a 64 year old woman who runs a server that is safe for grandchildren to play. So, I'm stumbling along trying to learn. Thanks so much!
