Player can't eat apples

What I expected to happen was... :
When you press and hold while holding an apple, your player would eat it.

What actually happened was...:
The apple moves in the player's hand but it doesn't do anything. You can't even break blocks while holding it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Retrieve an apple
2. Try to eat the apple by pressing and holding on the screen while holding an apple.
3. The player's hand moves slightly but nothing happens
