I'm running Windows 10 on a low-end HP Laptop with 4GB of RAM, and have found Minecraft runs best with the Windows 10 version in comparison to the Java version.
However, it would appear that for whatever reason, Minecraft isn't picking up that I'm running Windows 10 or some other error is occurs when I go try to purchase Minecoins in the store.
I'm not sure exactly what the problem could be other than that. I have however noticed that there are higher versions than what I have (1.2.3 appears in the lower right of the main menu) in the "Affects Version/s" dropdown list, so I have a hunch something hasn't been updated fully, or maybe my laptop just isn't compatible anymore.
I also got a strange message via the Microsoft Store earlier when uninstalling Minecraft and reinstalling it to see if it would fix the problem: Something about "Your Developer's License has Expired". I've never had a "Developer's License", or at least never had one knowingly.
Any help would be appreciated on this matter. Thank you for reading!
