Planting seeds has broken when I plant a seed next to each other they both pop out of the ground.

I think the problem you have here is that you aren't giving the plants enough light. Try adding some torches near them.

try adding more light if its outside in the sun or inside a building if your plats are outside it's most likely a bug but if inside add more light.
