Usually I could set my render distance which is usually set at the max of 30, but now I can only set it to 16. This started happening after I joined the beta on Windows 10.

I've got exactly the same issue!
I'm playing Minecraft ('Windows 10 Edition') over half a year on the SAME Win 10 Tablet-PC (8 GB Ram, CPU: Core M 5Y71) β I always could set the max. render distance to 56 chunks (while smooth playing was still possible up to 40 - 48 chunks)!
Now, with te update to Version 1.2.13, the max. render distance has been reduced to a mere 16 chunks β PLEASE Mojang, say that this is a BUG and NOT a 'feature'!...
Also I was thinking of upgrading to an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080ti Graphics Card so I can get like over 100fps for minecraft on java and so that I can get an 80 chunk reder distance to solve this issue.
I'm hoping that when I update my PC to the latest windows 10 version, that the render distance can get changed over 16.
Removing my vote as this is not a bug. It is by design, that you cannot go over what Minecrafts deems your computer is capable of.
I conclude this by checking on my gaming rig after having updated to 1.4.5.0 (Not 1.5!) - and I can crank the render distance up to 64 blocks againΒ πΒ

Before it would say render distance = 30 chunks, now it says 16 chunks instead of 30. My PC usually supports 30 chunks.
