I am not a redstone expert by any means, so I'm not exactly sure what has changed, but my best guess is redstone power is not being passed down to the block underneath of a piston. I seem to recall some redstone contraptions long ago that powered 2 Pistons with just one torch at the top.
In any case, I have a world from the previous Xbox version that I'm trying to import into the Xbox live version and the behavior doesn't match. I also built the same Contraption many times on the PC version, as far back as 10 years or so.
In the screenshots below, the switch on the wall is designed to activate sticky pistons, to move bookshelves in and out of the wall, to control crafting levels. As you can see, the top row of Pistons is working fine but the bottom row of Pistons are not being activated.
Both rows of Pistons used to work fine in the older Xbox One Edition as well as the Java Edition on PC .
I'm hoping the third screenshot of the Redstone side of things will be enough for you to be able to duplicate this issue.

This is a bug in the legacy console editions and Java edition that is commonly labeled "quasi-connectivity". Bedrock edition does not have this bug, so this is working as intended.
You can fix your circuit in the first screenshot by replacing the repeaters facing the pistons with just redstone dust. Dust will connect to the top pistons, and power them, as well as power the blocks they are placed on which in turn will power the pistons below.

Quasi-connectivity is just another bug that people liked so much that it sort of became a feature or intended mechanic. Bedrock doesn't have that "bug." This is like the nether height limit being 128, instead of 256 like in java, which "fixes" a mistake in the game but prevents people from making use of the top half of the nether like on java edition.

I was just checking back on this issue today and was disappointed to find that it was marked invalid. I realize this may have been considered a bug in previous versions, but changing this behavior causes many many compact redstone contraptions to now be invalid as well. I would have thought with the move to bedrock version, you would want to duplicate any and all functionality that was present in previous versions. Whether those features or functionality were actually bugs in the system, many many players, YouTubers, and Redstone fanatics had developed complex redstone contraptions based around this functionality. Not supporting this in the bed rock version means all of those documentaries and websites are now junk. The Minecraft community and all of its associated websites videos and documentation, is what made this game so successful in the first place. It's sad to know that many of those things will now be defunct.
Whether it was a feature or a bug, it's still something in the Bedrock version that does not behave the same way as it did in previous versions. This breaks functionality in older Maps. "Fixing" this "bug" for the sake of making things "more correct" is something that will make players like me not adopt the newer platform and simply go back to playing on previous versions.
