When I tried opening a world that I was working on for almost a year a message popped up saying "updating packs 1 out of 1". I thought it was just updating the texture pack but then i just couldn't enter the world. It sent me back to the worlds page and I couldn't open any of them.

Same problem on Xbox One. Have not performed any updates. Also affects Create New World. Unable to play game at all.
