When you put redstone on translucent(or glass,this is untested) block(s) ,you'll see this:

but, if you put more, like this...:

This is working as intended. This change was made in a recent update as it didn't make sense for redstone to travel upwards without any actual wire showing it go up. I agree that this does have its oddities as well with it looking like a redstone tree, but either way it looks funny. Give us your feedback on the feedback site (linked below) if you wish to see it changed.
