indestrucible water source blocks

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy tab A.

I have been exploring a water filled cave system by filling a section with dirt and mining it out to leave air. In 2 places I encountered a water source block that would not go away. No amount of mining, placing other blocks would remove it, as soon as it is exposed, the water source block came back.

The first time with bounding blocks & ladders it appeared as a narrow plane of water like it was squeezed between 2 blocks. In the second case if a block is placed where the water is and removed, the water is not visible, if I then place a ladder in the space, the water reappears.

Note that I replaced thousands of water blocks, with this only occurring twice in a huge cave system, so its not easy to reproduce, and a photo doesn't show much.
