Nether deaths cause respwan in random location

I recently was playing on my survival world when I died in the nether. After I pressed respawn I respawned at my first spawn point and not the one where I last slept which ruined the world and dropped me in a place where I don't know where my base was so I lost everything I had worked so hard on and deleted the world. Please fix this pronto so it does not happen to other people.
