Forcibly dropping items

So far this has only happened once. I was playing on my nintendo switch and i had my daughter playing on the other through local play and suddenly all of her items started to drop. She wasn't pushing any buttons and the items that were being dropped weren't even highlighted on the hot bar. I tried switching controllers and continue doing it and I edited the controls so there wasn't even a drop button. None of those Solutions worked. Eventually I got it back to normal by going out to the home menu and physically quitting the game and going back into it. Not sure if this was a one-time deal but just letting you guys know.
