Tried to find the endportal. Unfortunately when I arrived, there was a fossil spawned inside which removed one of the endportalframes. Now im unable to use this portal and have to find another one.

Here is another screenshot. Its not the actual fossil but rather a coal ore block which (i guess) is part of the fossil.

However, this issue has been closed as Won't Fix.
Unfortunately this is something that cannot be fixed without breaking other world generation features. Fortunately more than just one stronghold will be generated in a world, so you will still be able to find a usable portal frame.
