2 player Realms tier option sometimes not available when attempting to create a new Realm

 
UPDATE: As of the regular Tuesday Marketplace refresh on January 22, 2019, I am no longer able to reproduce and this issue appears to be Resolved. It was likely a backend issue with Marketplace search not returning all available items—a similar issue with non-Realms items was identified and fixed January 9, 2019.
 

Summary:

The 2 player (You+2) Realms tier option is sometimes not available when attempting to create a new Realm from the world creation screen or Marketplace.

Expected behavior:

• 2 player Realm tier option is available when attempting to create new a Realm from the world creation screen (Worlds tab → Create New → New Realm → Create New Realm).

• 2 player Realm tier option is visible and searchable in the Marketplace.

Observed behavior:

• 2 player Realm tier option is sometimes not available when attempting to create a new Realm from the world creation screen (Worlds tab → Create New → New Realm → Create New Realm). [Fig. A]

• 2 player Realm tier option is sometimes not visible or searchable in the Marketplace.

  • 2 player Realm tier option is  sometimes initially visible in the “Multiplayer Fun” section of the Marketplace home page [Fig. B], but is no longer visible if the player views another item and then returns to the home page. [Fig. C]

  • Searching for “Realms” in the Marketplace only returns results including the 10 Player Realm tier option. [Fig. D]

Workaround:

• If the 2 player Realm tier option is visible in the “Multiplayer Fun” section of the Marketplace home page, players can select it to proceed to purchase screen. [Fig. E]

Steps to reproduce:

World creation screen:

1. Launch game and sign in to Microsoft/Xbox Live account if not already signed in

2. Attempt to create new Realm from the world creation screen (Play → Worlds tab → Create New → New Realm → Create New Realm)

3. Observe if 2 Player tier option is available

Marketplace home page:

1. Navigate to Marketplace

2. On the Marketplace home page, scroll down to “Multiplayer Fun” section

3. Observe if 2 Player tier option is visible

   • Option A:

     1. If visible, select 2 Player tier option to proceed to purchase screen

   • Option B:

     1. If visible, select and another item

     2. Return to Marketplace home page

     3. Observe if 2 Player tier option is visible

Marketplace search:

1. Navigate to Marketplace

2. Select search

3. Search for “Realms”

4. Observe if search returns results for 2 Player tier option

Configuration:

Tested and reproduced on iOS and Nintendo Switch using the same Microsoft/Xbox Live account.

• All devices connected to Wi-Fi

• Player signed in to Microsoft/Xbox Live account

• iPhone 8, iOS 12.1

• Nintendo Switch, OS 6.2.0
