After upgrade to 1.9 sometimes you see black screen when you go under the water level

After the upgrade to 1.9 sometimes I observe an issue with underwater rendering, from time to time it happens that you see just a black screen instead of the underwater content. It does not matter if the underwater is an ocean biome or just few simple blocks of water into which you can dive. You need to restart the game to fix it. I did not have this issue before upgrading to 1.9.

Thank you, can you give more details please and explain how a broken rendering of underwater areas is duplicated by a piston texture issue?

I have also experienced this, but only in multiplayer split screen. The first player has the beautiful water texture and everything is visible. But the second player has the solid blue water top that is non-transparent and when they go under water it is either black or a very hazy blue which is only gives them a visible distance of a few blocks.
