I have a LG X Power, when I get into the water, I can't see nothing, only a black screen, I tried with night vision potions, but nothing happens. Please fix it.

Confirmed on Nintendo Switch in a flat creative world using the City texture pack (only once) and on a creative realm using the Candy Texture Pack (also only once but I only got the realm today)

Adding to the mystery. Latest version on Switch Bedrock here. I posted a tweet with video that showed the issue and the active graphical packs in the world. https://twitter.com/Flameon12345/status/1038116869444489216?s=19

Same issue, suddenly happening to me. When swimming the screen goes black.

Same on Nintendo Switch using City Texture pack. I hard reset Minecraft and it still glitched when I loaded back up. When I removed the texture pack, the problem corrected.

Happened on City Texture pack when I was placing a sign while submerged in water. Same fix worked again.

Confirmed on Nintendo Switch 10/12/18 on current version at that time. Survival world, normal mode, two players on same local device, local world non-server/realm. I will have to check on what Texture pack we were using, but it was not City for us, I believe we used the Natural pack on that world.
Unable to reproduce - it happened only that one time.
Our solution was to immediately Save & Quit the game and reload. That fixed it in the moment.

My Lenovo Tab 3 A8-50F displays a black screen when diving or bobbing under water.

My Xiaomi Mi A1 is displays black screen when swimming in water in beta 1.8.0.13 open Minecraft via Google Assistant

Having the same issue on galaxy s9 (sm-g960u) no special steps, just any time I go below water the screen goes black until I get back above water. Basically at the point my air meter appears the screen goes black. Everything else functions, swimming, fighting, intake damage, just darkness.

Same issue on Google Pixel 3. I first started seeing this issue with the 1.8.0 update

OnePlus 5 same issue after upgrade to 1.8. kids have fire tablets and have the same issue too.
Does the issue persist after restarting the app?

I experience this on my LG Q6 (android nougat). I find the only way to fix the issue is to completely exit the app and restart Minecraft. No specific cause I can find that triggers this black screen under water occurrence. Usually after a restart, I've not known it to happen again during the same game play session. Happens on both local worlds and on minecraft bedrock realms.

I am on xiaomi 4 note pro and when i go to water everything becomes black i even tested it with my cousin and he had no problems

On my nintendo switch edition minecraft the screen turns completely black while I enter water and that black screen makes so I cannot be in the water - i have to go up. from it. there is one solution: restart the world and the screen will no longer become black. PLEASE FIX THIS

Same issue on Google Pixel 2. The issue seems to happen randomly and is difficult to reproduce, but it happens very frequently. FYI the only pack I've installed is music.

Just ran into this bug on my Minecraft PE.
I am running V1.8.0 on a Samsung Galaxy S9.
Model SM-G960W
Android Version 8.0.0
I was trying to place a bunch of sand blocks in small pond next to my home and then fell in. Then I was attacked by drowned and died. Dying did not fix the bug.
However, restarting the game did fix this bug. I'm not sure if it's the game restart itself that fixed it, or if simply reloading the world would have fixed it.

This happens on my wifes tablet pc, Lenovo tab 3.

This affects Nintendo Switch Bedrock version 1.8.1 as well... but usually only for a second-player who is playing at the same time as the first logged-in player, in the same world. Logging out and back in sometimes fixes it for a while. Other times the second player just has reduced underwater visibility – even when swimming with a conduit (or many) or using night-vision potions or water breathing potions or all the above.

Affects 1.9.0.5
Affects 1.10.0.3 beta according to MCPE-41173.

Complete black when underwater is happening on my Android - LG V20 running Android 8 an MC v1.0.9
Strangely it is not happening on my partners LG V20 Android 8 MC v1.0.9
I have rebooted my Android device but it makes no difference.
I saw this on the previous version MC v1.0.8 but it was intermittent and a reboot seemed to fix it.
Reboot is not fixing it now.
@@unknown - Do you have any packs applied? (If so, which ones?)
You might want to remove any packs, and perhaps try clearing out the cache of any packs too, by going to Settings→Storage.

No packs installed. Running vanilla android version.
Anoyingly I logged into the game (I host a server on a win10 pc on my LAN for private use) and the water was back to normal.
So it's frustratingly intermittent.
Interestingly after a fresh rebook, the problem e isted but after a day of using using many different apps on my phone, the problem was not there (the opposite to what one would expect)

I have the same issue. I have Minecraft version 1.9.0.15. Galaxy S8+ Sw android 8.0 and all up to date.

It's happening for me again. I reboot my device almost daily. I have a sneaky suspicion the black underwater happens more frequently after a reboot, and less often if I let my phone run for a day or more. Makes no sense to me tho.

Workaround :
Start playing a LAN hosted network game (running betdrok server on win 10 pc)
Go into water and screen goes black.
Exit world.
Start a new local world on my Android device (same seed as LAN world but I don't think that is important)
Go into water and can see ok.
Exit local world and log back into LAN world.
Go onto water and I can see ok, not black!
So it appears to be related to the land connected world and somehow playing a local world fixed it.
I will continue to experiment.

This glitch is very weird as sometimes i have it but sometimes I don't

More info.. It's Anoyingly frequent and inconsistent.
Log in, and under water is black.
Log out and back in again and underwater is ok.
Log out and back in again and underwater is black.
Log out and in again and underwater is still black.
Very random. I see no pattern yet.
Note this is now happening on my partners device (lg v20 with Android 8)
Is there any way of doing some diagnostics when it's happening to help fix this?

Tonight I had this sequence :
Log into network game after a reboot earlier in the day. Go into water, black.
Log out of app and back in again, go into water OK.
Log out of app and back in again, go under water OK.
This make it seem like first time going into water will be black, but log out of app and back in again without rebooting device, underwater will be OK.
Very very strange.

This happens for me as well when I join my brother's world. The same thing happens for him when he joins my world. It seems to only happen for people who aren't the world creator. This is when I play on a local world on a Wi-Fi network or cellular data.

I have the same issue, but the water is completely white, not black.

when ever I go underwater my screen goes completely black and I've tryed restarted the minecraft and it doesn't work

I have found going out, closing completely the minecraft app, then back in again sometimes fixes the problem, however you may have to repeat this multiple times before it's fixed.
Trouble is, letting the app go into the background will turn all underwater black again.
So you just have to log off and close the app again multiple times until it is randomly fixed.
Very annoying bug.
@@unknown - Could you please add more information about your device? Are you still using the LG V20 Android 8 that you mentioned above? You've provided the closest thing I've seen to repro steps, and if we can reproduce the bug by switching and resuming apps on the same type of Android device that would be very useful.

I had this bug several times on Nintendo Switch, it started to happen after upgrade to 1.9.0. Restart of the game is fixing it. It does not need to be the ocean biome, it was happening with standard water as well. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-42916

Yes, still lg v20. I have a few of them (love the replaceable battery) so I will continue testing on them.
It's rather random but the fact that underwater is good, the switch app to background (to take a call, check email, etc..) invariably flips it so underwater is black.

I have just requested to be in the beta program for minecraft, in the hope that I can give more useful feedback.
If there are any memory dumps or logs etc.. I can give, just let me know how.

I have an LG v20 on Android 7.0.1.
Logging into my LAN game running alpha bedrock server from a win 10 pc.
I had no problems under water, logging out and in, putting the app into background, etc..
So I guessed it's related to the version of Android... But...
I started my LG v20 running Android 8.0 and it had no problems under water iether, also logging out and back in again, and putting the app in the background.
Until one time I logged out and in, and the under water was black.
So I jumped back into my v20 running Android 7.0.1 and it too (having been in the background for a while) had black under water.
Logging out and closing the app fixed it.
But logging out and closing the app on the v20 running Android 8.0 did not fix it.
One interesting clue is, the second you go down below the water line, it turns black. But as you move up, just before your cross the water line, you can see under water for a fraction of a second, then you break the surface and have normal view under water as seen from land.
This is very reproducible.
Hopefully this gives someone a clue as to what's happening.

I just installed the minecraft beta 1.11.0.4 on my LG v20 running Android 8.0.
I'm reluctant to try connecting to my network server so have been testing in local games.
So going in and out of the app, putting it in the background, logging in and out : the under water was consistently fine.
I then tryed my lg v20 running Android 7.0.1 and repeated the test on a local game. Interesting same result : no black under water.
So from this test I would say the problem of black underwater only happens when connected to a network game.
Next test this weekend is to try and setup a network game to get the beta 1.11.0.4 connected to.

I'm playing on a multiplayer realm. I'm on iPad version 1.9 January 28 2019 build. No plugins. I joined the server 2 days ago. Was able to see underwater good enough to kill fish. I could see clearly about 5-8 blocks in front of me. Even further with less clarity. Today every time I go into water the minute I'm under the whole screen is black. I can't see even one black count nIt remains black no matter how long I wait or where I move. Very frustrating especially with Drowned. They already make enjoying the ocean a killjoy, but complete blackness kills all play.

Seems to be related to a network game - Im doing lots of tests on local games (created on the device) and LAN network games.
When I connect to a LAN network game it has a high chance of being black under water.
Additional info:
Third person view makes no difference
Turning all fancy graphics off makes no difference
Connecting to a Bedrock Server (Alpha) on windows makes no difference as compared to connecting to another device hosting its world (eg Minecraft client on Windows).
Thats about as much testing as I can do unless someone wants to suggest something else.
Ideally having some debug options running withing the client when it happens would be useful.
Over to you guys 🙂

Platform: switch 7.0.1
Never have this issue on 1.9.x
Have this issue on sometimes on 1.10.0
Single player game only

I just bought Minecraft Pe and I have this issue. The screen goes dark when I dive in the water... Anyone found a solution yet? Thanks.

I do have this issue on mobile happens on single player and on realms

Playing on a Realm on Nintendo Switch in 1.10.
Underwater is black about 50% of the time regardless of graphics settings, whether the Switch is docked or not (different GPU I'm told) or how many people on the Realm.

Playing on a Switch (7.0.1) with Minecraft version 1.10.0 in single player. Consistently having this issue since updating

Affects 1.11.0.10.

Current Nintendo Switch version you also get black screen under water. Using default texture pack but not the default skin.
All I did was jump in water for the first time and boom. Complete darkness.
Maybe it is certain skins? hmm

I'm also running into this on Switch. Current version is 1.10.0. Switch software version 8.0.0
I'm using default skins. Started a new survival world and went to move underwater and anytime I go under the surface of the water everything goes completely black no matter what time of day it is.

Im having this issue, when im playing at my realm at mobile version 1.11.1.
Sometimes it becomes black, sometimes it isn't. Its kinda annoying :/

This issue happens on Switch as well

Newest version of MCPE, only happens when using night vision and underwater

Also having this issue. I've dealt with it for awhile. Sometimes just logging off of the world and starting it again gets rid of it for me. But having to do this constantly is bothersome and ruins the immersion. I am having this issue on my Android Moto Play phone. On v1.11.3

Still affects 1.11.1.2

1.11.4 on Switch still has this problem. I can't yet see a pattern. I have no texture packs, just vanilla.

Agreed, on switch, randomly and no texture packs or breathing item help. Have NOT tried no armor of any kind yet, (so possibly and armor issue if anyone has tried without wearing any armor?) Having soul sand or magma blocks doesn't seem to affect it for me. I'm using a realm (owner) on Nintendo Switch, have win10 version and pe too and would be willing to help test out ideas if needed?

Same issue on pixel 2xl and 3xl is there a fix yet?

Happens to me sometimes on my Honor Play, android 9.0. I've tried restarting game and clearing game cache.

Happens for me, Android Q Beta 4 on Pixel 3a.

on switch it turns everything black except for the players hands. held items such as maps, blocks etc. turn black

I’m having the same issue on my iPad. Generic world spawn, no armor, no texture packs, nothing extra. As soon as my head goes under water the screen goes black. Restarting the app does not help.
My iPad has the current iOS and the Minecraft app is the current version.

This happened in my switch as well. Closing and reopening Minecraft fixed it but it is a bug nonetheless.

I have this issue on switch too, so annoying , it just happens when it wants to

I have this problem on the switch and it is in one of my worlds and only for my file cuz when my brother joins he can see in the water completely fine he actually went "fishing" today.

close your realm and reopen it and it works again fyi

This still happens intermittently on LG Q6 bedrock 1.12. Usual workaround is to the exit the game and restart.

Same problem on huawei p30 pro, but a restart of the app instantly fixes the problem. (Problem seems to be happening randomly)

Confirmed on Redmi 5A
The black underwater bug.

The bug in Nintendo Switch and Android is already fixed, at least on my devices I no longer have a problem with the black screen.

Kk thanks!

I had this problem just yesterday on the switch and it is really annoying. To get rid of it i have to restart the world which will take a while.

It happened to me to on Minecraft pocket edition

Still affects some devices. Apparent solution is to turn on fancy bubbles, which could cause lag. Not a reliable solution.

I am having this problem on my Nintendo Switch from time to time even after upgrade to 1.13.

i can't post in media but my wife is having this problem on the switch as of 1.13 on November 16, 2019

A similar glitch that still exists is the variant where water turns white instead

This happens sometimes with me on iPad Air
