Can't tell if ocelots are tamed or not

When I go and try to tamed an ocelot, I would do the same that you would usually do when taming one (Crouch, have fish in your hand, and walk towards the ocelot until it slowly walks towards you, etc), but when it gets close to you and stops crouching I would give it raw salmon and wait until I see hearts above its head. Once I see the hearts, I stop crouching and try to sit it down, but it doesn't sit and if you were to put the fish out again (like you were going to tame it). It would slowly walk towards you like it isn't tame. I tried this in Creative and in Survival, but the same still thing happens.
