Particles (mainly the mob effects particle) cramped into a small area gets spread out horizontally (see attachment), The particles should just stay in the area instead of clipping through the floor.
Steps to reproduce:
step 1. dig a hole
step 2. place command block
step 3. type in the command block ‘summon xp_bottle (the coords of where you dug the hole from)’
Then observe.
