If connected to internet, Minecraft crashes almost immediately (app gets closed automatically). If not connected to internet, loads but get 'global resources reset' message and then app freezes about 5 seconds later. Issue arose once I set app to login to Xbox, which I did for the first time today - prior to this I was using the app (in 1.11.1 and previous versions) without signing in to Xbox, without any problems.

Getting this same issue. I signed up for Realms, created Live accounts, and initially, my child's live account wasn't configured for online play. The game told me as such. Once I figured that out and thought I had it configured correctly, that's when the crashes started. Both on my account on my phone and the child's iPad, presumably because we're correctly configured at this point? I caught this before it crashed. Usually it crashes as the white Mojang splash screen. I can confirm the offline behavior you mention is the same, too. Locks up after 5 or so seconds of trying to sign into Live.

I have exactly the same issue, on v. 1.12.0. Created Xabox Live accounts, logged in, was told permissions needed to be adjusted, logged in again and now it doesn't make it past the white screen while on Wifi, and crashes a few seconds after starting if in airplane mode. I can't remove the account login information, so the app is pretty much useless and I have some very sad kids. They have spent a year and a half creating worlds that they now can't enter - please fix pronto?
Also experiencing the same issue. Adjusted Xbox privacy settings for children’s accounts, and immediately following the changes, the app started crashing on startup. Will get as far as the menu screen before crashing when not connected to the Internet. Otherwise the crash occurs during the loading screen. No Sign In or Sign Out options were available.
Resolved one iPad by deleting and reinstalling app, but all worlds were lost. Still hoping to resolve the other iPad. Using v. 1.12.0 on iOS 12.4.
No issue accessing either account on Xbox or Windows 10.
