Villagers farming

I have villagers that are farmers they have their straw hats it’s not the fishers and they won’t harvest crops they will pick of wheat and seeds etc and replant but they won’t harvest when they are ready and I’m pretty sure they are supposed to put stuff in composted but they don’t (I’m not too sure if they are supposed to do that) it’s not really a bug I guess it’s just something I am already missing the little detail in the game and want it fixed and I’m pretty sure people have made auto farms like that also but they don’t work anymore at least for me BTW I have seen other villages do it but none of mine are doing it and it’s annoying and keep in mind that this world was created before any of the village and pillage update it’s about 2 years old this world is but my main village won’t do anything but the rest will like the brand new ones I find and they do have doors beds and all the other special blocks
