Dog disapeared and has no trace of whereabouts after game crash

I was building a room when my game froze and wouldn't load. I closed the application and after more loading my nintendo switch said closed due to error (didnt say what error though) then I reloaded and my dog was gone. No death message. I looked everywhere and I know I saved after I got that dog (3-4 hrs ago) and I logged off 2 or three times before and still had the dog but now its just gone.
