Transparent textures for entities doesn't work

I am trying to make a resource pack where every mob has a space helmet on their head.
For example,Picture 1 shows what my cow model is supposed to look like, and picture 2 shows what is actually happening. And for some reason the cow is filling the missing pixels with black pixels and the creeper with gray ones.

You need to change the entity material to one that supports alpha testing
