DISCLAIMER: this does should not affect anyone who's not tinkering with the game, but it might be an internal issue so I felt as though it couldn't hurt to mention
When setting you render distance too 100 chunks (1600 blocks) or more (may vary with system) via the options text file the game will begin rendering the chunks and then the rendering will suddenly stop/crash. If you move to the edge of the render distance no new chunks will be loaded, and if you go to options and click save and exit, the game will not save and exit. the entities already loaded will not move and cannot be interacted with, you can break and place blocks but they will not drop their item in survival, nor will they make breaking sounds, the pick block button doesn't work, and i'm sure there are dozens more but I think you get the point.
I'm running my system on a i5-7500, 8gb 2666 ram, and a gtx 1060 3gb
