Selected custom skin gets reset on restart

Meanwhile playing bedrock, at any time if i restart the game upon booting it up my custom skin will be un-selected and I'll either be Steve or Alex, the same is happening to my friend. This is starting to annoy us both and I'd love if this could be fixed because its driving me insane
