Me and my brother are trying to play minecraft on our respective xbox's but our versions aren't updated and aren't even similar versions. They are versions 1.12.0 and 1.13.0 respectively and we would like them to both be on 1.14.0. Minecraft support was no help and I've been searching for a while for help.

The bug tracker is only for reporting bugs in the game. Your issue is an installation problem, not a bug.
The current release version is 1.13.0, so your brother is up to date. I'm not sure why your device is stuck on 1.12.0, but uninstalling and reinstalling should fix it. WARNING: Uninstalling will delete all your worlds! If you don't want to uninstall or it doesn't work for you, you will need to contact Xbox Support for help.
Once your Xbox has 1.13.0, you and your brother should be able to play again.
1.14.0 is the beta testing release. It is only meant for testing, not making progress in your survival world. Beta releases are expected to contain bugs, and it's possible the beta could corrupt the world you're playing, including with the cloud backup, so you should only use it to open worlds you're prepared to lose.
If you and your brother both want to play on 1.14 and you understand the risk, you will need to join the Beta program. For instructions, see this page. Be sure you both read the entire page before deciding whether to join. Note that if either of you shares your device with someone else who plays Minecraft, joining the Beta program will affect them as well because only one release can be installed on a device at a time.
