Since the 1.13 update, opening the game takes several minutes of sitting on a black screen. Eventually it loads up, and once it does then the worlds will open normally. But after a few seconds in game, it will crash.
A workaround I’ve found (and shared with others online to similar levels of success) is to turn off internet access as soon as the game loads, switching to local mode. The game will function normally. I did not have these issues until after using the customization feature once time. Considering turning on local causes the skins to not load in, I believe these crashes are tied to the new skin customization causing memory issues on the Switch.

I have same issue on Nintendo Switch. I can play the game only when Switch is set on Airplane Mode ON.
