When creating a resource pack, previously you were able to change the 'end.txt' file so when you defeat the ender dragon and step through the end portal, you would see custom text in place of the end poem. This stopped working as of 1.13 and instead just shows the default 'end.txt' regardless.
Usually the 'end.txt' file would be placed in the '<resource pack folder>/credits' folder.
This bug also applies to the 'credits.json' and the 'quote.txt' files it seems.

I can confirm that this issue is still present in 1.14.60. I'm using a resource pack with custom credits that I know has worked in past versions of Minecraft.
This is still an issue in Version 1.19.60Β

Also NOTE: Users have to create the "end.txt" manually if you dont have it included in the latest Vanilla Resource Pack for the update. Not sure if the coding has changed for the file since 1.6
Issue prevails in 1.20.1, I understand the now dodgy nature of Julian Gough's poem now that he's released his statement, but even then the option to just haveΒ an "end.txt" that only gets overridden if altered instead of containing his poem would suffice. I sincerely hope this issue gets resolved as soon as possible, some projects won't be the same without this feature. π
Issue still exists as of release 1.20.41 and beta/preview 1.20.60.21
(06/12/2023) EDIT: Still an issue as of release 1.20.50
Thank you for your report!
After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
