The player icon on my maps that I create is not showing up despite whatever I do to my settings. The map still loads properly, its just the player icon is missing.

Empty maps, as made on a cartography table, and Unknown maps (found in chests) do not have locator arrows. You either need to craft a map the “old” way (on a crafting table with a compass and paper) or convert your empty maps to Locator maps on a crafting table by adding a compass to the existing map.
In the Legacy Console Edition, all maps were locator maps, but Bedrock has brought the PS4 in line with other versions.

I am having this same issue with my PS4 Bedrock edition. Love the update but this bug makes it hard to explore your NEW worlds... How are you supposed to find the bees in unexplored areas without maps?! lol
Any already create maps and the first map seem to show the icon, but any new maps don't. Hope this is an easy fix! 😉
