Mobs grouping in NW of village

I have created a large village with 100+ villagers and beds. Villagers are leaving the confines of the village and head to the NW of the village and idle there. There are hundreds of them. Iron golems are with them as well. Seems to be an issue with their AI. I have noticed this with my other large village. They all gather in the NW and then idle around day and night. They never leave the area and are accumulating. This is creating massive lag anytime I go near the area.

I have done the same and indeed these villagers go nuts. They breed faster than rabbits! You probably don't realize that with over 100 beds you have 4 villages, not just 1. I believe this is the issue behind what you see.

It is annoying, but my advice would be to limit the number of beds to 25 or so. Build the next village at least 100 blocks away, but as the village boundary extends by placing beds, jobsite blocks etc, I recommend 200 blocks away. It sucks, I know.

The village center is defined as the first bed that is linked to a villager. As you have four village centers, the chaos is complete. The pathfinding is not good enough to keep them linked to their bed properly. The huge number of villagers exacerbates the issue. You will see the same with jobsite blocks; they will unlink from these too.

I wiped out my village 3 times and have given up on placing more than 25 beds.

I am going to have this ticket resolved as a duplicate of MCPE-41092 because the primary issue in your summary is the tendency to go to the northwest. If you haven’t given the villagers workstations they will wander, and wandering favors the north and west.

That said, Jack this Out is correct that you could have several villages and village centers based on the number of beds. It could also be with a village of that size parts of it are outside of your simulation distance for long stretches of time while other parts are loaded, and that can result in scrambling of the village linkages too, and bunching of villagers (along the borders of your sim distance).
