I've gotten Windows 10 edition from the Microsoft store so is there a way I can get Java edition over my purchase from the Microsoft store

No. There is an offer for Minecraft Java users - if you bough Minecraft Java before Oct 19th 2018 you could get free Minecraft Windows 10.

It never worked the other way around - no free Minecraft Java for Minecraft Windows 10 users.
